How to use this tool
- Paste the earlier version in A and the later version in B.
- Choose lines or words, and enable whitespace normalization only if needed.
- Compare; read the labelled changes or download the text report.
How it works
A bounded sequence-difference algorithm identifies an edit path between the versions. Different but equally valid edit paths can exist for repeated text. Added and removed passages have text labels as well as color. Whitespace normalization compares transformed views; it does not mean the raw files are byte-identical.

Word view marks “final ” as added.
Important considerations
Do not use a text difference as proof of meaning, authorship or plagiarism. Inputs are limited to 256 KiB per side, and highly dissimilar versions may need smaller sections.
256 KiB per version. Input remains in page memory until you reset or leave. Copy and download actions are initiated by you. No tool input is sent to a processing service.
One more useful detail
Why compare by lines?
Line comparison makes structural edits clearer. Word comparison is more useful when a paragraph has small wording changes.
