How it works
Words are language-aware segments containing word-like characters. The character total counts grapheme clusters: a base letter with a combining accent counts as one visible character. Code points are shown separately because some upload forms count them instead. Estimated seconds equal word count divided by the selected words per minute, multiplied by 60 and rounded up.

2 words; 12 grapheme characters including the space and punctuation. At 200 words/minute, the estimate is 1 second.
Important considerations
A character limit in another application may count UTF-16 units or bytes rather than graphemes. Compare its rules before relying on this total. Sentence segmentation is approximate around initials and abbreviations.

One more useful detail
Why do two counters disagree?
They may use different word boundaries, language rules or character units. A joined emoji can be one grapheme but several code points.
